SSYC Preschool has served the community since 1970. The center provides quality child care to children between the ages of 3 and 5 and that are toilet trained. The Program meets the needs of parents who are either handicapped, working, or in a job training program.
We provide a comprehensive full day program (7:00am - 5:30pm) year round. Early childhood experiences are our focus. The High/Scope Active Learning Curriculum is used. This Curriculum allows the child to plan their own day. Children's' experiences are child directed, with teacher's assistance.

SSYC Preschool is sub-contracted by the Plainfield Board of Education. A Master Teacher is provided by the Plainfield Board of Education to assist our education staff and to assure that quality is provided to children through education strategies and training. All Teachers are certified. The Program is monitored by the Plainfield Board of Education and the State Department of Family Development. The Center is Licensed by the State of New Jersey.
High Scope Curriculum is a child initiated curriculum where children have the opportunity to plan their day and decide what areas they will work in.
A Family Worker is assigned to each family to assist them in specific activities. The family workers use a resource file to assist our families.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are held 3 times each year. The purpose of these meetings is to build a portfolio on the child as parent and teachers together chart the child's progress throughout the year.
Parent Meetings are held once a month. The purpose of these meetings is networking, allowing us to acquaint ourselves with parents of all cultures.
